What are Economic Development Initiative - Community Project Funding (CPF) grants?

Community Project Funding (CPF) grants are congressionally directed spending grants that fund a variety of projects nationwide, such as housing, homelessness prevention, workforce training, public facilities, parks, resilience planning and other critical infrastructure and services.

Through the Economic Development Initiative, HUD’s Office of Community Planning and Development, Office of Economic Development - Congressional Grants Division administers the CPF grants.

Who is eligible to receive these funds?

Projects selected for Community Project Funding and congressionally directed spending are identified by congressional members, included in HUD annual appropriation and listed in the Joint Explanatory Statement (JES) and/or congressional Record that accompanies a specific fiscal year’s appropriations act. The JES lists projects by entity, project name, award amount and congressional sponsor.

Only entities named in the JES for a specific fiscal year are eligible to receive these grant funds.
