FHA APPRAISER ROSTER APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

FHA requires appraisers to be Certified Residential or Certified General to perform appraisals for FHA. Read these instructions in their entirety first before beginning the application process.

  1. Applications must be submitted through FHA Connection (FHAC).
  2.
  3. If you were previously on the appraiser roster at any time, you may not apply as a new applicant. If you apply as a new applicant, your application will be rejected. However, you may qualify for reinstatement.
  4.
  5. Review your personal information listed on the Appraisal Subcommittee's (ASC) Appraiser Registry:
  6.
    • Access the ASC Appraiser Registry website.
    • Type or select your Credentialing State/Territory and enter your first and last name.
    • Find your name (There may be more than one selection for your name. The "View" will likely be the same for each).
    • Select "View" to find the credential(s) for the state(s) you intend to include in your application.
    • Ensure that the "Status" field shows Active for the state(s) you intend to include in your application.
    • Important: Note the number exactly as shown in the Credential Number field. Ensure you enter exactly what the Registry shows in your online FHAC application even if the number is different from what is on the credential from your state regulatory agency. An inexact match will result in an error message, and you cannot proceed with your application.
    • If your information needs to be corrected on the Registry, you must ask your state appraisal regulatory agency to resend your information to the ASC.
    • If your information had to be corrected on the Registry, after verifying it is now current and correct, you may need to wait one business day before beginning the FHA online application to permit data from the National Registry to be transferred to the roster in the FHAC.
  7. Have a PDF copy of your current state-issued credentials ready and available to upload for all states you are requesting to appraise in for FHA.

  8. After filling in all information for the online application on the Appraiser Roster Application page in FHAC and reviewing the information for accuracy you will electronically sign the application.

  9. You may then preview your electronically signed application (HUD-92563-A) and print the completed and signed application for your records.

  10. Once you have completed and signed your application, you may begin uploading your state credentials and submit your application in FHAC.

  11. After reviewing these preliminary instructions, you may begin your application in FHA Connection's Appraiser Roster Application.
