Senate Confirms Frank Cassidy as Assistant Secretary for Housing and Federal Housing Commissioner
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The United States Senate today confirmed Frank Cassidy to serve as the Assistant Secretary for Housing and Federal Housing Commissioner at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In this role, Cassidy will lead HUD’s Office of Housing and oversee the Federal Housing Administration’s (FHA) Single Family, Multifamily, and Healthcare mortgage insurance programs. FHA supports a $1.9 trillion portfolio and holds a critical role in the nation’s housing finance system and healthcare infrastructure.
“I am glad to see Frank confirmed as Assistant Secretary for Housing and Federal Housing Commissioner,” said Secretary Scott Turner. “Frank’s dedication to HUD’s mission and vast private sector experience is invaluable and we look forward to his continued work ensuring FHA serves the American people.”
“I am deeply grateful for the trust President Trump and Secretary Turner have placed in me,” said Assistant Secretary Cassidy. “Under Secretary Turner’s leadership, we will continue modernizing FHA, supporting responsible homeownership, increasing housing supply, and strengthening partnerships with the private sector to deliver for American families.”
Prior to joining HUD, Cassidy built a distinguished career in major commercial mortgage banking and real-estate finance, advising developers, owners, and investors across the multifamily, senior housing, and healthcare sectors. For more than 15 years, he originated and closed billions of dollars in FHA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, bridge, and balance-sheet financing.
Cassidy joined HUD in April 2025 as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for HUD’s Office of Housing and FHA, where he carried out Secretary Turner’s directive to streamline processes, strengthen risk management, and improve how FHA serves its borrowers and private-sector partners.
