ICYMI | HUD Hosts Historic Innovative Housing Showcase, Underscores Commitment to Harnessing Innovation to Reduce Housing Costs
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) hosted its annual Innovative Housing Showcase on the National Mall welcoming more than 5,000 people, including policymakers, industry leaders, media, and members of the public. Themed, “The American Home is the American Dream,” the showcase commemorated America’s 250th birthday in partnership with the America250 Initiative, and spotlighted private sector innovation driving the American Dream of homeownership.
“Homeownership is central to the American Dream,” said Secretary Turner. “A home is much more than just four walls and a roof. It’s much more than just a financial investment. It is the foundation upon which Americans build lives of independence, empowerment, and self-sufficiency. These bedrock American values have defined us since the founding of our great nation and turned our country into a beacon of prosperity and hope.”

President Trump filmed a video to celebrate HUD's Innovative Housing Showcase and welcome the American people to attend, highlighting his administration’s commitment to bringing down housing costs and restoring the American Dream of homeownership: “Under the Trump administration, we believe that affordable homeownership is a fundamental part of the American Dream,” said President Donald J. Secretary Turner hosted HUD’s first ever faith-based disaster recovery event on the National Mall, which included remarks from influential faith and community leaders and a special musical performance by American singer and songwriter Sean Feucht. Secretary Turner spoke about the important role faith-based and community organizations play in disaster recovery: “Under the leadership of President Trump, faith is back in our government. These [faith-based] organizations are not just filling a gap. They are breathing new life into devastated communities, and HUD’s role is to strengthen their efforts with resources and support needed to recover,” Secretary Turner told Fox Digital.
Secretary Turner and senior HUD officials held expert-led discussions, workshops, and live demonstrations that addressed defining moments in the history of housing, as well as affordability and resiliency in the future of housing. Included in the programming was a fireside chat between Secretary Turner and Senator Tim Scott, Chairman of the United States Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, that discussed increasing housing opportunities for Americans through public-private partnerships.
Secretary Turner and EPA Administrator Zeldin toured a modular home and discussed construction technologies that are helping make housing affordable again.
