FHA is pleased to offer the following in-person and virtual events and training, including pre-recorded webinars, covering multiple topics on FHA Single Family Housing policies, processes, and technology.

Overview of Resources for First Time Homebuyers - Pre-recorded Webinar (5/7/2024) This free, pre-recorded webinar provides an overview of resources available to prospective first-time homebuyers along with guidance to prepare for homeownership. The webinar also addresses some homebuying myths, provides an overview of FHA single family mortgage programs, and offers guidance on working with HUD-approved housing counseling agencies.

Prospective homebuyers with all levels of homebuying knowledge will benefit from this webinar. In addition to providing a resource to prospective homebuyers, this webinar may be useful for loan originators, real estate professionals, and others interested in learning about the homebuying process. The Philadelphia Homeownership Center, Santa Ana Homeownership Center, and the Office of Housing Counseling worked collaboratively on this webinar, and it is also available on the HUD YouTube Channel. Dispelling Homebuying Myths Educational Webinars

This webinar series reveals the truth about common myths associated with using an FHA-insured loan to purchase a home. In addition to providing a resource to prospective homebuyers, the webinars may be useful for loan originators, real estate professionals, and others interested in learning more about FHA-insured loans and misconceptions in the homebuying process.

SF Handbook Pre-Recorded Training Webinars. This series of pre-recorded training webinars cover the policies that mortgagees use for origination through obtaining a FHA insurance endorsement for Title II forward mortgages. The modules provide an overview of the policies and requirements contained in Sections II.A and II.D of FHA's Origination through Post-Closing/Endorsement for Title II Forward Mortgages section of the Single Family Housing Policy Handbook 4000.1.

In-Person: FHA Lender Training – Santa Ana, CA June 12 & 13, 2024 │8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Pacific) This free, two-day, on-site, instructor-led classroom training covering a wide range of topics, including: Single Family Housing Policy Handbook 4000.1, underwriting an FHA appraisal and endorsement protocols; the Loan Review System (LRS); and more.

Who Should Attend: Direct Endorsement underwriters, loan processors, and other seasoned mortgage professionals can benefit from this training.

Event Location: Santa Ana Homeownership Center – 34 Civic Center Plaza, 8th Floor Conference Room, Santa Ana, CA 92701.

Instructions: Register for In-Person Event Pre-registration is required. Seats are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Walk-ins are welcome, but not guaranteed. Check-in begins at 8:00 AM (Pacific) with a start time of 8:30 AM (Pacific). The training venue is in a government building; therefore, a real ID is required for entry. Please allocate sufficient time to gain access. Attendees must go through security screening (metal detector, valid ID verification) at the guard station in the lobby. Lunch is on your own and there is an onsite restaurant and café available. There is no public wi-fi or onsite parking; however, fee-based parking lots and garages are within walking distance from the building.

In-Person: FHA Appraisal Training – Nashville, TN June 17, 2024 │9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Eastern) This free, in-person training will provide an overview of FHA appraisal protocol and updates to FHA appraisal policy as outlined in FHA's Single Family Housing Policy Handbook 4000.1, This training will also take an in-depth look at a variety of appraisal-related topics including property acceptability criteria; minimum property requirements; property defects; appraiser responsibilities and requirements; and more. There will be a question and answer (Q&A) session at the end of the training. Submit your appraisal-related questions in advance to: AtlPUDTrng@hud.gov. The presentation team will respond to as many questions as time permits.

Who Should Attend: FHA appraisers and other industry professionals, including underwriters and processors, can also benefit from this training. This course does not offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for licensed appraisers.

Instructions: Register for In-Person Event Advance registration is required. Seating is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. This training is being held in a government facility. Attendees must provide a valid, government-issued photo I.D. at the guard station. Please allocate sufficient time to gain access. Check-in for the training begins at 8:30 AM (Eastern). Lunch is on your own.

In-Person: FHA Credit Underwriting Training – Nashville, TN June 18, 2024 │9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Eastern) This free, in-person training will provide an overview of FHA underwriting procedures as outlined in FHA's Single Family Housing Policy Handbook 4000.1, and addresses several industry-related frequently asked questions (FAQs). This training will also take an in-depth look at a variety of topics including credit, income, and asset (CIA) documentation; manual underwriting; automated underwriting systems (AUS); closing; and more. There will be a question and answer (Q&A) session at the end of the training. Submit your appraisal-related questions in advance to: AtlPUDTrng@hud.gov. The presentation team will respond to as many questions as time permits.

Who Should Attend: Underwriters, processors, loan officers, and other mortgage professionals can benefit from this training.

This training will also take an in-depth look at a variety of topics including credit, income, and asset (CIA) documentation; manual underwriting; automated underwriting systems (AUS); closing; and more. There will be a question and answer (Q&A) session at the end of the training. Submit your credit underwriter-related questions in advance to: DHOC-PSD-Training@hud.gov. Electronic Class (EClass) on FHA Loss Mitigation & Servicing System: The EClass System provides additional training on FHA's Loss Mitigation Programs, including FHA's Home Affordable Modification Program (FHA-HAMP), as well as continuing education on loss mitigation & servicing issues that have generated the most industry questions & requests for further training. The EClass System is designed to provide web-based training to HUD-Approved Servicers, HUD-Approved & Nonprofit Housing Counseling Agencies. Find out more...
