The FHA Catalyst: Single Family Default Monitoring System (SFDMS) Reporting Module is HUD’s system for tracking mortgagee data on defaulted mortgages until a default is resolved through reinstatement or termination. The module provides users the ability to report delinquency/default status codes that accurately reflect the severity of default and mortgagee action taken.
Beginning November 5, 2021, default reporting will no longer be processed through FHA Connection (FHAC). On December 1, 2021, mortgagees must begin default reporting in the FHA Catalyst: SFDMS Reporting Module or through Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
FHA Catalyst Onboarding
All mortgagees, including those currently using SFDMS in FHAC, must request access to the FHA Catalyst: SFDMS Reporting Module prior to the December 1, 2021, mandatory use date. Mortgagees are encouraged to register in advance; however, onboarding begins on September 13, 2021. To request access, email the completed FHA Catalyst External User Access Request Form to the FHA Resource Center at email@example.com. Persons with hearing or speech impairments may call the Federal Relay Service at 1-800-877-8339 for additional support.
About FHA Catalyst
FHA has embarked on a multi-year IT modernization initiative, FHA Catalyst, which is improving how mortgagees and their authorized users do business with FHA. FHA Catalyst is supported by a $60 million appropriation from Congress and a partnership between the HUD Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Office of Housing. FHA Catalyst is a secure, flexible, cloud-based platform that provides a modern, automated system for lenders, servicers, and other FHA program participants. FHA Catalyst enables FHA to manage its programs and processes more efficiently and effectively, benefiting those who do business with FHA.
