Statement from The Honorable Adrianne Todman Honoring President Jimmy Carter and His Legacy in Affordable Housing
WASHINGTON - On this day of mourning, The Honorable Adrianne Todman, Agency Head of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), issued the following statement to honor the life of President Jimmy Carter:
“Today, I attended the funeral of President Jimmy Carter, a true housing hero whose legacy will forever inspire those of us committed to advancing affordable housing and homeownership. President Carter understood the transformative power of having a safe, stable place to call home and showed up for housing in ways that transcended words—he led with action.
Through his visible partnership with Habitat for Humanity, he reminded the world of the critical importance of supporting affordable housing, a cause too often overlooked. His unwavering passion, energy, and dedication have been a beacon of hope for countless individuals and families.
In his memory, I hope that all who have the opportunity to shape housing policy and allocate resources will rise to the occasion. We need housing heroes now more than ever. May we honor his extraordinary life by continuing the work he held so dear, ensuring that affordable housing and homeownership are not just aspirations but realities for all.”
