If you have an FHA-insured mortgage, contact the FHA Servicing/Loss Mitigation Center at (877) 622-8525 or contact our FHA Resource Center at (800) 225-5342 (press option 1). If you don't know whether you have an FHA-insured mortgage, contact your mortgage company and ask if it is an FHA-insured mortgage. They will be able to tell you what type of mortgage you have (e.g., FHA-insured, Fannie Mae, conventional, etc.).

Government Programs - Several other federal agencies provide housing and other types of services. Find out about other government assistance that you may qualify for by visiting: www.benefits.gov.

Grants from HUD - Although HUD does not provide grants directly to individuals, HUD does provide grants to governments, nonprofits, and other eligible grantees who administer various housing and community development programs that individuals may qualify for. To find out if you may qualify for assistance for homeownership assistance or assistance to have your home repaired/rehabilitated or other types of assistance, contact the following HUD grantees:

Homeless Programs - HUD has many programs available to help the homeless in Tennessee

Homeownership - HUD's FHA offers a variety of Single Family (1-4 units) mortgages to help you buy a home with little money down (about 3 ½ percent). Find out more by calling our FHA Resource Center/Atlanta Homeownership Center (HOC) - (800) 225-5342 and pressing option 3 and then 4; or, go online to find answers to your questions. HUD also provides grants to governments and nonprofits to provide homebuyer assistance, so be sure to visit our Learn About Homeownership page to find out if there is funding available and if you qualify.

HUD Homes for Sale - The sale of HUD homes has been contracted to various companies. You can find the contact information along with a listing of HUD homes for sale on the website. Knoxville HUD Employees Put People First

Tennessee Housing Authorities Celebrate Fathers Day 2012

This year's event in Chattanooga, was just one of many held across the State, and was headed by Chattanooga Housing Authority (CHA) male employees, led by one male employee from Resident Services. The men were excited about being asked to put this year's event together, because it gave them a chance to show what they could do. The theme that they chose was, "Are you willing to go the distance for your family?" They thought about athletes who run the relay race in track and how they have to be able to go the distance in order to reach the goal. These guys felt that this was something that all Dads should be thinking about. They selected their speakers based on generations. Each speaker represented a different generation, showing how the different values of fatherhood are passed down through generations. They wanted to be able to reflect on what fathers have gone through for their kids during various economic, political, and educational changes of the society.

Guest speakers were Antonio McMath with the YMCA, Michael Martin-Cutlett with Brainerd Baptist Church, James Mapp, Local Civil Rights Leader/Real Estate Agent, and Larry High, owner of Bears Barbershop, and Vincent Phipps of Communication VIP. The host was Willie Richardson of First Things First. All of these men were able to share their story of their childhood growing up with a dad, and some not having a father in their life, and how this affected their lives. The fathers signed a pledge and stood together and took an oath to be better men, spouses, and fathers.

A total of 25 fathers participated out of the 32 identified on leases from the various public housing sites. Sponsors and door prizes were donated by Chattanooga Cares, Chattanooga State Technical Community College, and First Things First, Hamilton County Election Commission, Hamilton County Health Department, Olsten Staffing and Regions Bank. The dinner was catered by Sticky Fingers Restaurant.
