HUD New York Regional Office leadership and staff traveled to the Bronx, New York, to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester, a chapter of the storied organization that transforms lives by providing and preserving affordable homes for families in need.
HUD staff participated in Habitat’s Community Participation Preservation program, part of Habitat NYC and Westchester’s Construction Preservation Services (CPS) program, which provides construction rehabilitation services to existing low-income homeowners. CPP works with volunteers to do painting, minor repairs, and beautification programs.
The HUD team from FPM included HUD Regional Administrator Alicka Ampry-Samuel, Deputy Regional Administrator Stephen Murphy, Executive Assistant Angelique Urbina, Senior Management Analyst Earleene Sealy, Management Analyst Eileen Rivera, and Public Affairs Officer Olga Alvarez. Multifamily NE - Management Analyst Kaitlyn Menegio-Stahl, Program Analysts Chris Landsiedel and Ehsan Syed, and HUD Office of Davis Bacon and Labor Standards Specialist Duvale Riley. HUD Office of Davis Bacon and Labor Standards Specialist Cory Chu organized the event.
The team worked on 920 Metcalf Ave; a 21-story building located in the Soundview neighborhood. Volunteers painted the building’s common area hallways.
HUD Regional Administrator Alicka Ampry-Samuel went above and beyond to make us look like a HUD team! Many thanks to Cory Chu for organizing this effort to assist low-income families and improve their quality of life.
