Men of all ages attend Father's Day retreat hosted by the Paterson, NJ Housing Authority

This year, the Paterson, New Jersey Housing Authority celebrated Father's Day with a 2-day retreat held in Camp Hope, located in West Milford. The theme was "Choices, Change, Power, Hope, Something Necessary", a theme that was expanded upon during a visit by NJ State Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly on Friday night, and set the tone for the weekend by speaking to the 55 men aged 18 to 72 that attended the event.

On Saturday, the men attended sessions on finance, entrepreneurship, jobs, and education; as well as resolving gang violence. The group committed to stay connected and mentor other men in their communities over the next six months. All expressed that the weekend was an uplifting experience that gave them a renewed sense of obligation.

The retreat was made possible by the Paterson Housing Authority, The City of Paterson, Passaic County Health and Human Services, The Paterson Police Department, B.R.O.T.H.E.R.S. think tank and Project Reconnect.
