HUD Announces Charles President, Jr. as Kentucky Field Office Director
LOUISVILLE, KY - U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Southeast Deputy Regional Administrator, Tiffany Cobb announced the selection of Charles President Jr. as HUD Field Office Director for Kentucky.
As the Kentucky Field Office Director, President serves as HUD's liaison to mayors, city managers, state and local officials, members of Congress, private and non-profit developers, stakeholders, and customers. He will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of HUD programs and services to communities and individuals, as well as evaluating their efficiency and effectiveness.
"Charles brings solid management experience and years of service to the frailest in our communities, and ideal blend to further HUD’s mission,” said Cobb. “Charles will provide steady leadership to help create sustainable and inclusive communities, pivotal to improving quality of life in Kentucky.”
"Public service has been a passion of mine and I have been fortunate enough to serve in both local and federal programs where I could contribute to the improvements that are vital to quality of life," added President. “I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the Commonwealth of Kentucky and look forward to enhancing the delivery of services and programs to the communities that rely on them.”
President began his federal career with HUD in 2007 in the Office of Fair Housing & Equal Opportunity (FHEO) where he first served as Equal Opportunity Specialist and was later promoted in 2016 to Director of Programs and Compliance for Florida & Kentucky. In this position he ensured HUD-funded recipients, including local government entities and private owners contracting with HUD were compliant with the Fair Housing Act and other civil rights related laws and regulations, improving the lives of many vulnerable HUD program participants.
Prior to joining HUD, President served as a Human Services Planner with the City of Jacksonville, FL, Housing and Neighborhoods Department; as a Fair Housing Specialist with a Fair Housing Initiative Program (FHIP) organization in Tallahassee, FL; and as a Budget Analyst with the State of Florida’s Justice Administrative Commission.
President holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Master of Applied Social Science with a concentration in Public Administration from Florida A & M University (FAMU). Outside of work, he likes to create special memories by exploring new places, food, art, and cultural events.
