Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance

Federal disaster relief assistance is available through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In the event of a National Emergency, HUD partners with FEMA, providing assistance as needed.

The Alaska Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (DHS&EM) is responsible for coordinating all phases of emergency management in the State of Alaska. In the event of a State emergency, HUD partners with the Alaska DHS&EM as needed.

In the Municipality of Anchorage, it is the responsibility of all departments of the Municipality to respond to the needs of its citizens in a serious emergency or major disaster affecting the community. Planning and coordinating this response is the task of the Municipality's Office of Emergency Management.
