SEC-524 -- STUDY OF PUBLIC HOUSING FUNDING SYSTEM. The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development shall conduct a study assessing one or more revised methods of providing sufficient Federal funds to public housing agencies for the operation, maintenance and modernization of public housing. In analyzing such alternatives, the Secretary shall compare and contrast existing methods of funding in public housing with those used by the Department of Housing and Urban Development in housing assisted under section 8 of the United States Housing Act of 1937. In preparing the study mandated by this section, the Secretary shall, in particular, review the results of the study entitled "Alternative Operating Subsidies Systems for the Public Housing Program", released by the Department's Office of Policy, Development and Research in May 1982, and shall update such study as may be necessary. The Secretary shall submit a report to the Congress not later than 12 months after the date of the enactment of this Act detailing the findings of the study conducted under this section.
