TO:  ALL APPROVED MORTGAGEES
 
SUBJECT:  Single Family Loan Production - Extension of
           Implementation Date for Mandatory Usage of Model
           Mortgage and Note Forms Provided in HUD Handbook
           4165.1 REV-1 CHG-3
 
     On November 30, 1995, HUD Handbook 4165.1 REV-1 CHG-3,
Endorsement for Insurance for Home Mortgage Programs (Single
Family) was issued with a mandatory usage date of January 1, 1996
for the Model Mortgage Form (Page 4-3), and the Model Note Form
(Page 4-4).  This mortgagee letter rescinds the January 1
deadline and revises the implementation date for the new model
note and model mortgage forms to June 1, 1996.  Loans closings on
or after June 1, 1996 must use the new form.
