TO:  ALL APPROVED MORTGAGEES
 
ATTENTION:  SERVICING MANAGERS (Single Family)
 
SUBJECT:  Closing of Two Air Force Bases:
                  1.  Loring Air Force Base, Limestone, Maine
                  2.  Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base,
                           Belton, Missouri
 
        These two Air Force bases have closed.  On September 30,
1993, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
issued Mortgagee Letter 93-31, which provided mortgagees with
instructions on assisting mortgagors affected by military base
closings.  On December 16, 1993, HUD issued Mortgagee Letter
93-41, which provided mortgagees with guidance for underwriting
applications for mortgage insurance from borrowers affected by
base closings.  Please follow the guidance described in these
Mortgagee Letters for the closing of the subject military bases.
 
        Questions pertaining to this Mortgagee Letter should be
directed to the HUD Field Office (New Hampshire State Office,
Manchester, New Hampshire or Kansas/Missouri State Office, Kansas
City, Kansas respectively) having jurisdiction over the
properties affected by any of these base closings.
