     TO:  ALL APPROVED MORTGAGEES
     SUBJECT:  Implementation of Mandatory Direct Endorsement
               processing
 
          Mortgagee Letter 93-2 implementing the major changes to the
 
     Department's Mortgagee Approval and Direct Endorsement
 
     regulations was seriously delayed in its distribution.
 
     Therefore, the Department has extended the deadline for the
 
     implementation of mandatory Direct Endorsement processing until
 
     June 1, 1993.  The new requirement is effective for CASE NUMBERS
 
     ASSIGNED on or after June 1, 1993.
