Inspector Technical Training
We are currently not able to schedule any additional training sessions at this time.

HUD would like to thank all the Public Housing Authorities that participated in the HQS quality review process and especially to those that provided feedback to help us improve our inspection oversight program. During that effort, many PHAs requested that HUD provide additional inspection information and training sessions. Therefore, HUD has developed an Inspector Technical Training curriculum covering various topics such as: Electrical, Plumbing, Building Systems, Site and Neighborhood, and Inspection Routine.

These sessions are being offered by HUD at no charge with the aim of supplementing industry knowledge and collecting feedback on the best way to present this information.  The material has been put together by HUD’s expert quality assurance inspectors—who have been trained on both HQS & UPCS inspection protocols, but is presented in a way that should benefit any inspection program.    The trainings are generally from 1 to 3 days, depending on the topics selected, and explain in detail the different types of building materials seen today and their applications, potential hazards, innovations to equipment/technology, and best practices for inspecting those items.

HUD is seeking a limited number of PHAs to participate in these interactive and informative training sessions.  This is a great opportunity for PHAs to broaden their knowledge and provide direct feedback to HUD. In order to participate, HUD kindly request that you have a minimum of 3 participants familiar with the HQS inspection process (e.g., inspectors, supervisors, or managers), at least 1 full dedicated work day to training (8 hours), and be able to provide a training space with a projector or other similar audio/visual equipment.  Even if your agency is unable to participate in the training at this time, please let us know if there are additional topics you would like us to cover in future sessions.
