Version 2.2 of the NSPIRE Standards Released [06.16.2022]
HUD published the Proposed National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) in the Federal Register on June 16, 2022. The public comment period closed on August 1, 2022. The final set of standards will be published in the Federal Register following HUD's review and adjudication of public comments. See the notice on federalregister.gov »

NSPIRE Standards Version 2.1 Released [04.02.2021]
This week, HUD released version 2.1 of the NSPIRE Standards. This latest version of the standards represents 18 months of development and incorporates input and observations from housing industry professionals and other stakeholders. Read more »
The NSPIRE Proposed Rule: Another Milestone Toward Implementation [01.13.21]

NSPIRE Demonstration Notice Has Been Released
Through the release of the NSPIRE Demonstration Notice, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced another step to overhaul the Department’s 20-year-old inspection process to ensure taxpayer-supported housing is healthy and safe. Read more »
HUD seeks NSPIRE Standards Feedback
Taking into account public comments that HUD has received, we have reviewed the rationales and the health and safety determinations in the standards and make extensive changes to them in Version 1-2. The rationales are at the core of the NSPIRE process, and we welcome all comments on these revised rationales and health and safety determinations, and also every other part of these standards. Voluntary Demonstration Participation Registration
HUD will launch a new physical housing inspection model and wants to test the adjustments to standards, protocols, and processes prior to nationwide implementation. The department is seeking participation from 4,500 properties and will select from a nationwide pool of Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) and Property Owners and Agents (POAs). Read more »
