Housing Authority of Columbus, Georgia

General Information

The Housing Authority of Columbus, Georgia (HACG) became an MTW agency in July of 2013.  The agency presently manages approximately 2,300 public housing units and 2,333 Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV) throughout the Columbus community.  HACG’s core MTW objectives include providing additional services to improve the lives of residents and enable them to achieve self-sufficiency, redeveloping communities that are experiencing functional or economic obsolescence, modernizing communities that are located in areas not conducive to redevelopment, improving availability and housing accessibility to residents, combating homelessness with an emphasis on veterans, providing additional housing choices, implementing administrative cost savings for the agency, reducing the concentration of poverty, and increasing permanent supportive housing opportunities and additional housing opportunities for chronic homeless.

MTW Status

HACG was selected as an MTW agency through a competition held in 2012 as part of HUD’s 2011 budget appropriation (Public Law 112-10, 125 Stat. 103) and its Standard MTW Agreement was executed on July 3, 2013.  HACG’s MTW participation will run through its 2018 fiscal year.
