General Information
The Charlotte Housing Authority (CHA) has used its MTW authority to develop collaborative relationships for affordable housing solutions; maximize the economic, physical, and social value of its real estate portfolio; ensure long-term financial viability; provide high quality, cost-effective real estate management services, streamline and enhance features of the agency’s Housing Choice Voucher program to meet the demands of local housing providers, and launch standards that encourage the development of client families to reach their highest potential.
Currently, CHA administers approximately 100 public housing units, 8,650 Housing Choice Voucher units, and 1,050 local, non-traditional units.

MTW Status
CHA's participation in MTW was authorized by the 1999 Appropriations Act. CHA executed an interim agreement in December 2006, the Original MTW Agreement in December 2007 and the Standard MTW Agreement in 2008, extending its participation through its Fiscal Year 2018. As a result of Congress passing the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2016, CHA’s MTW Agreement was modified and extended to the end of its Fiscal Year 2028.
