Health Care Professionals
Health care professionals play a pivotal role in assessment and intervention of lead poisoning screening and asthma home assessment. Pediatricians are a major partner in ensuring that a blood lead screening is performed at 1 and 2 years of age during well child checks regardless of zip code they reside in or insurance program. Nurses and doctors both can make a difference for young families they serve by encouraging and prescribing home assessments to be completed in children with a confirmed venous elevated blood lead level or even at a confirmed blood lead screening result. Prevention is preferred but catching exposure early in a child’s development can be the difference of IQ points lost or retained.
