Training Description

This Fair Housing Accessibility First training curriculum focuses on the technical guidance and protections provided by HUD-approved Safe Harbors and the Fair Housing Act Design Manual.

Topics Covered:

  • Fair Housing Act Overview: Identifying elements of the FHA that prohibit discrimination and aim to promote accessible design.
  • Understanding Safe Harbors: Identifying the definition of a safe harbor and the terminology used to describe the information contained within a safe harbor.
  • Safe Harbor Sources: Identifying the sources of HUD-approved safe harbors used to promote accessible design.
  • Safe Harbors for Compliance: Identifying the total number of HUD-approved safe harbors
  • ICC A117.1 – 2009: Identifying the scope and technical specifications covered by ICC A117.1 version 2009.
  • Beyond the Fair Housing Act Design Manual: Identifying the FHADM’s impact on future safe harbors.

Test Your Knowledge
Once you have completed the training, you can take the test for this training. The test consists of 10 questions, and an 80% score is required to pass. Upon passing the test, a certificate of passing will be emailed to you within 15 minutes.
