World Habitat Day Agenda
The Department of Housing and Urban Development in collaboration with UN-HABITAT are hosting the events taking place on October 5. People throughout the
United States and around the world have joined together to celebrate World Habitat Day 2009. There are celebrations taking place in over
50 countries around the world, and we welcome the public to participate in our
Regional celebrations and Affiliated Events organized by WHD Working Group members.

2009 World Habitat Day Opening Ceremony

Doors open at 8:00 AM
Ceremony will be begin promptly at 9:00 AM and end at 11:00 AM
Arriving & Entering
- By metro use 5th street entrance
- Main entrance is located on F street
- Wheelchair access is available through the G Street entrance
Parking
- Metered parking is located on 5th, F, and G Streets (please check meter carefully for hours of operation). Nearby parking lots/garages are located on
F Street between 6th and 7th Streets, D Street between 8th and 9th Streets, and at the corner of 7th and H Streets.

The official kick-off for the 2009 World Habitat Day global observance will feature remarks by members of the World Habitat Day U.S. Honorary Committee. The
Opening Ceremony will also include a special video created by YouMedia, celebrating the voices of Chicago youth, Building and Housing Social Foundation (BHSF)
World Habitat Award Presentations and 2009 Habitat Scroll of Honor Presentations.

structured response session which will allow invited guests to share domestic and international innovations that promote public engagement in planning
