Arizona

City of Phoenix Housing Department

  • Online access agreement with AZ Department of Economic Security (DES)
  • Automated as conduit for 16 other AZ PHAs with Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with DES
  • Automated Vacated Tenant Accounting (AVTA) system tracks tenants with outstanding debt to other HAs

Delaware

Delaware State Housing Authority

  • Mainframe computer linked with Department of Labor (DOL) since 1991
  • Receives wage, unemployment and disability benefits data from DOL
  • Mainframe computer linked with Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to receive welfare benefits and child support information
  • Initially used to catch fraud, now serves as preventative measure since tenants know that income and benefit checks are being performed

New Jersey

New Jersey Department of Community Affairs

  • Direct computer link with DOL via state mainframe since 1991
  • Data on wages, unemployment and disability benefits used for income and rent determinations during admissions and annual reexamination
  • Assists seven other New Jersey PHAs by accessing wage data for them
  • Uses a series of forms from pharmacists and physicians to verify claims medical expense deductions

Oklahoma

Oklahoma City Housing Authority and Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency

  • Online access agreement with Department of Human Services to receive information on:
    • Type of assistance applied for and amount
    • Number of people residing in residence
    • Earned income and unearned income
    • Imputed income
    • Recovery
  • Currently have a bill before the legislature that will allow PHAs to have direct access to the wage and unemployment benefits from DOL

South Carolina

Housing Authority of the City of Columbia

  • MOU with SC Employment Security Commission since 1995
  • Verifies wage information on behalf of other PHAs in SC
  • Online system

Virginia

Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development, Compliance and Community Relations Program

  • Online data sharing with Virginia Employment Commission for state wage data
  • Online matching with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
  • Online court record matching and police arrest report matching
  • Department of Social Services (DSS) record matching
  • National Crime Information Center (NCIC) checks
