RHIIP Training Materials

The Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH) has developed a library of Rental Housing Integrity Improvement Project (RHIIP) training materials as a part of HUD's RHIIP initiative. The Department has identified training on occupancy issues with emphasis on income and rent as a high priority for HUD staff and Public Housing Authorities (PHAs).

Materials from recent sessions, starting with the most current, are:

NAHRO Detroit Conference (MS-PowerPoint)
Most recently presented at the NAHRO Detroit Conference in Detroit, MI on July 16, this presentation, and sections therein, was used at several industry group meetings and conferences such as the April 16th National Leased Housing Association Conference; the National Low Income Housing Coalition Conference, held April 26-27, 2004; the PHADA 2004 Annual Convention and Exhibition May 16-19, 2004; the New Jersey Tenant's Association May 13-14, 2004, Atlantic City, NJ; the Southwest NAHRO 64th Annual Conference, June 13-16; and many more.

This comprehensive presentation provides an overview of the Upfront Income Verification (UIV) system, UIV wage discrepancy cases studies, and updates on other RHIIP activities.

Rental Integrity Summit Trainings
PHA staff training materials from the Rental Integrity Summit training held in Orlando, FL, January 26-30, 2004 and the Summit training held in Anaheim, CA, February 2-6, 2004.

PHADA Commissioner's Conference (MS-PowerPoint)
Presented January 14, 2004 in Orlando, FL, session title, "How Are We Doing? Rent Results in Income & Rent Calculation Accuracy." Discusses RHIIP accomplishments for FY 2003 and provides updated information on policy and guidance, up-front income verification (UIV), Rental Integrity Monitoring (RIM) reviews and re-reviews, and incentives and sanctions.

Updated RHIIP Presentation (MS-PowerPoint)
Presented at the Quadel Housing Choice Voucher Conference, October 16-17 and the NAHRO National Conference and Exhibition, October 19-22. Contains updated information on RHIIP components and provides recommended actions for PHAs to reduce income and rent calculation errors in HUD's rental programs.
