Moving to Work (MTW) Santa Clara/San Jose Housing Authorities

- -
 Information by State
 Print version

General Information

The 2008 Appropriations Act added the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Clara (HACSC) and the Housing Authority of the City of San Jose (HACSJ) as Moving to Work agencies. In 1976, the two agencies entered into a cooperation agreement where the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Clara manages all of the Housing Authority of the City of San Joses housing programs.

The combined agencies, through the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Clara, provide rental subsidies and develop affordable housing for low-income families, seniors and persons with disabilities living in Santa Clara County, California, the heart of Silicon Valley.

The large population and critical need for affordable housing in the Santa Clara Valley has made the agency one of the largest Housing Authorities in the country.

Currently HACSC and HACSJ manage 555 public housing units and 16,123 Housing Choice Voucher units.

Status

HACSM and HACSJ signed their MTW agreements on February 26, 2008. Their MTW participation will run through June 30, 2018. Additional information will be provided upon submission and approval of HACSC and HACSJs Moving to Work Annual Plan.
