What We Do

We conclude contested cases referred by HUD in a proficient and timely manner. Resolution is achieved either by an impartial hearing and decision or through negotiated settlement. Our goal is to insure that the rights of all parties are preserved.

We act as settlement judges at the request of the parties in those cases on our docket for hearing. The settlement judge is a neutral party, and the confidentiality of the settlement negotiations is absolute.

Hearings

Hearings are held in a city near the residence of the parties. We arrange to use a federal or state courtroom for the proceedings. Proceedings are conducted under the regulations applicable to the particular matter. The Federal Rules of Evidence and Civil Procedure govern the conduct of the hearing.
