HUD's Renovation, Remodeling, and Rehabilitation Training Curriculum

"Addressing Lead-Based Paint Hazards During Renovation, Remodeling and Rehabilitation in Federally Owned and Assisted Housing"

This Lead Safe Work Practices training course, referred to by some as "The 3R Course", is based on EPA's model course entitled, "Minimizing Lead-Based Paint Hazards During Renovation, Remodeling, and Repainting." It was delivered to remodeling and rehabilitation workers during HUD's nationwide training initiative in 2001-20002.

HUD modified the EPA model curriculum to serve the specific training needs of HUD's constituents. It includes the requirements of the Lead Safe Housing Rule. This curriculum was delivered (as was the Lead Paint Maintenance Training Course) in free HUD-sponsored training courses during HUD's nationwide training initiative during 2001-2002.

Download & Assembly Instructions: Course Contents:

1. Create two folders on your desktop named "Instructor Materials" and "Student Materials" as destinations for downloaded files.

2. Download all materials below, saving the files into the appropriate folders you created.

3. Assemble the materials to create a hard copy master for duplication.

a. Print one complete set of training materials for both instructor and student, placing in the order of the Table of Contents (TOC), and insert dividers.

b. A complete set of instructor materials consists of the manual cover, introductory information, TOC, five course modules, a set of 10 appendices, and section dividers.

c.
Assemble the instructor manual so the instructor can view the instructor notes pages on the left, facing the correlating Power Point slide on the right, printed-out in "Notes View."

d. We recommend assembling materials in a 2-inch D-ring binder or spiral binding.

e.
Appendix 10 is an optional course module on Supervision. Because it is in Power Point, you will download it with the Modules. If you wish to deliver this optional module, you may keep it as an appendix, or place it with the other course modules.

f.
The Student Manual is identical to the instructor manual's "notes view" print-out of the PowerPoint Presentation and does not include the instructor notes pages. You need only download the modules once. Power Point's Help feature contains instructions for "notes view" printing.

4. Your local print shop may be able to print from the electronic files you have downloaded if you are unable to print the files.

If you are unable to download the Course for any reason, you may request by email to receive the Course on CD-Rom. Please be sure to include your name, address and any other information you feel is important so we can expedite your request.
