HHI Funding Opportunities

- -
 Information by State

Many health and safety hazards in the home are preventable. Organizations, such as community organizations, state and local governments, and federally-recognized Indian tribes, are educating and mobilizing community groups to take action to control hazards and create healthy home environments. In order to assist groups with home hazard assessment and intervention, a number of federal initiatives offer funding for programs to improve residential health and safety. Information and links to HHI and other federal resources are provided below.

Application Kit for the Healthy Homes Demonstration Program - The Healthy Homes Demonstration Program builds upon OHHLHC's existing activities involving housing-related health and safety issues to address multiple childhood diseases and injuries in the home. Issues addressed by the program include:

 -   lead hazard control,
 -   building structure safety,
 -   electrical safety, and
 -   fire protection.

The demonstration program provides funding for projects that demonstrate effective hazard assessment and intervention methods, as well as projects that focus on public education and outreach efforts. These programs provide funding to State, local, and Indian tribal governments as well as not-for-profit and for-profit organizations.

Application Kit for the Healthy Homes and Lead Technical Studies - The Healthy Homes and Lead Technical Studies funds research on health and safety hazards in the home with the aim of developing accurate, cost-effective methods for assessing and controlling these hazards. The program provides funding to State, local, and Indian tribal governments as well as not-for-profit and for-profit organizations.

Annexes and Standard Forms - Includes annexes for the HUD grant program and the forms, certifications, and assurances needed when organizations apply for federal funding. Organizations will need these forms when applying for the Healthy Homes Research Program and Healthy Homes Demonstration and Education Program.
