To All HUD Approved HECM Counseling Agencies;

The HECM for Purchase program began on January 1, 2009.  All HECM counselors should 
be accepting and scheduling appointments for this program.  A conference call was held 
on December 18, 2008 to instruct on and answer questions about the HECM for Purchase 
program.  You can listen to a recording of this conference call on the HUD.gov website at 
  http://www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/hcc/hcc_home.cfm.  The related powerpoint 
presentation is also on the website and should be printed out to follow while listening to the 
conference call.  For other information about the HECM for Purchase program, counselors 
should review Mortgagee Letter 2008-33 and HECM for Purchase Frequently Asked 
Questions at http://www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/hecm/faqs_hecm.cfm.
If you have questions related to the HECM for Purchase program, you should direct your 
questions to your HUD representative or email housing.counseling@hud.gov.
This message has been sent to all Active Agencies participating in HUD’s HECM 
Counseling program.  Parent agencies should distribute this information to their sub-
agencies in case their emails were missing or posted in error in HCS.
