Organizing

The success of a Neighborhood Networks center relates to its organizational structure and foundation. When starting a Neighborhood Networks center, consider:

Forming a Steering Committee

The key to the success of a Neighborhood Networks center is the early participation of residents, property owners, and managers. With that in mind, one of the first steps in establishing a Neighborhood Networks center should be to form a steering committee comprised of these different stakeholders.

Establishing Effective Governance

To develop and sustain an effective Neighborhood Networks center, many centers establish a board of directors or an advisory panel that provides guidance in the operation of the center. The board offers direction, recommends resources, and provides guidance related to center development and long-term sustainability.
