Managing Your Center

Center management is demanding. That's why Neighborhood Networks offers technical assistance to center staff. Technical assistance helps staff members to:

 -   Assess resident needs and interests.
 -   Select and implement the most appropriate programs.
 -   Address the center's physical needs.
 -   Schedule, staff, and manage volunteers.
 -   Fund the Neighborhood Networks center and tap community assets.
 -   Promote the center and oversee community relations.
 -   Evaluate and improve the center.

Neighborhood Networks offers a variety of publications to meet the ongoing informational needs of center staff. It also makes the Strategic Tracking And Reporting Tool (START) available to centers via the Internet. START expands and improves the traditional method of developing a business plan. The business plan--a center's blueprint for success--identifies financial and programmatic resources and outlines the day-to-day management of the center. The business plan also describes programs and activities planned to help increase residents' self-sufficiency.
