To connect the more than 1,300 residents of Castle Square Apartments with the endless opportunities offered by the Internet, the Castle Square Technology Center in Boston, Massachusetts, worked with partners to provide free, wireless Internet access to residents. To do this, Center Director Deborah Backus enlisted the help of faculty and researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Computer Science and Artificial Laboratory (CSAIL), AmericaCorps*Vista, students at the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, and experts from J. Ryan Solutions Inc.

Staff members at the Wellness Center of Good Shepherd Neighborhood Networks Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, teamed with the board of directors and chief executive officer of the Good Shepherd Ecumenical Retirement Center to establish Channel 39. The free, in-house, 24-hour television channel provides senior residents easier access to information about community events and improves staff-resident communication.

The New Horizon Learning Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan, launched the Mind Over Matter (MOM) literacy program to help young residents strengthen their ability to read and comprehen. The MOM program curriculum consists of focused, age-and skill-appropriate reading sessions, spelling, and mathematics.
