Nortel Networks Kidz Online is a nonprofit educational organization
whose mission, vision, and values are dedicated to preparing K-12
students and teachers to live and work in the information age through
innovative peer-to-peer technology training distributed using advanced
digital technologies. Kidz Online began their national partnership
with Neighborhood Networks in June 2003 by Web casting the Neighborhood
Networks Week kickoff event, held at Edgewood Terrace in Washington,
D.C., for all centers across the country. Kidz Online staff trained
young Edgewood residents to film and monitor the Web cast, and then
posted the Web cast on the Neighborhood Networks Web site so that
interested NN centers could access the archive throughout NN Week.
In August and October 2003, Kidz Online invited several NN centers
to serve as the studio audience for live Web casts held at their
Digital Studio in Herndon, Virginia. Kidz Online also supported
NN Week in 2004 by once again Web casting the opening event, and
hosting other live Web events for NN centers, including an NN Week
preview and a "Connecting Kids with Careers" Web cast. Visit the
Kidz
Online Web site for more information.
