The Points of Light Foundation and its associated Volunteer Center National Network engage and mobilize millions of volunteers who are helping to solve serious social problems in thousands of communities throughout the nation. As a national partner of Neighborhood Networks, the Points of Light Foundation provided scholarships for four Neighborhood Networks pilot sites: Hawthorne Place Family Center (Independence, MO), Gateway Plaza (Kansas City, KS), Bainbridge Apartments Neighborhood Networks Center (Kansas City, MO), and Chelsea Plaza Homes (Kansas City, KS), to attend the Points of Light National Conference on Community Volunteering held in Kansas City, MO, on June 6-8, 2004. Additionally, the Bayview International Neighborhood Networks Center for Education and the Arts (Madison, WI) received ongoing onsite training and technical assistance in volunteer management and organizational development through a partnership with the Madison Points of Light affiliate. The Points of Light Foundation also provided training and technical assistance for Neighborhood Networks centers through workshops conducted at the Neighborhood Networks Regional Technical Assistance Workshops held in March and April 2004. Visit the Points of Light Foundation Web site for more information.
