Weekly Funding Opportunity: Key Foundation

- -
 Information by State
 Print version

Each week, Neighborhood Networks provides potential funding sources to help centers develop and improve programs and services. Featured this week is the Key Foundation.

The Key Foundation was established by KeyCorp. Cleveland-based KeyCorp is one of the nation's largest bank-based financial services companies, with assets of approximately $100 billion. Key companies provide investment management, retail and commercial banking, consumer finance, and investment banking products and services to individuals and companies throughout the United States and internationally.

Program Areas: The Key Foundation primarily funds programs that enhance economic self-sufficiency within its strategic priorities of:

 -   Financial education, including programs that increase economic self-sufficiency by fostering effective management and understanding of financial services and tools that create stronger and more productive populations. Examples include programs that educate and prepare people to access and manage financial resources effectively, and programs that foster savings and investments for low- and moderate-income people.
 -   Workforce development, including programs that increase economic self-sufficiency by providing training and placement for people to access job opportunities for a stronger and better prepared workforce. Examples include career exploration, training, and placement programs, and programs that encourage the growth and development of small businesses.
 -   Diversity, including programs that promote inclusive environments by employing systemic changes to improve the access of individuals of diverse backgrounds and encourage them to realize their full potential. Examples include vocational training and job placement for people with disabilities, and school-to-work-readiness programs for underrepresented college students.

Grants are primarily made within the following states in which KeyCorp has retail operations, including Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Utah, Vermont, and Washington.

Targeted Areas: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, and West.

Eligibility: The foundation funds nonprofits with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, and directs its support to those areas where it feels the most critical needs exist, and where its support can have the greatest impact in support of its funding objectives. The foundation does not provide funds for:

 -   The proposal summary can be used as an inquiry prior to submitting a full proposal.
