Weekly Funding Opportunity: The Dow Chemical Company Foundation

Each week, Neighborhood Networks provides potential funding sources to help centers develop and improve programs and services. Featured this week is The Dow Chemical Company Foundation.

Dow is a leading science and technology company that provides innovative chemical, plastic, and agricultural products and services to many essential consumer markets. With annual sales of $19 billion, Dow serves customers in 162 countries and a wide range of markets that are vital to human progress including: food, transportation, health and medicine, personal and home care, and building and construction, among others.

Program Areas: As the company's philanthropic arm, The Dow Chemical Company Foundation contributes more than $18 million annually to charitable and educational institutions in Dow communities on behalf of Dow and its employees worldwide. The foundation focuses its philanthropy on the elements of:

 -   Economic prosperity.
 -   Environmental stewardship.
 -   Corporate social responsibility.

As such, contributions must meet at least one of the following criteria:

 -   Address a demonstrated economic or social need that improves quality of life overall in a geography, city, or community in which the company has a presence.
 -   Enhance the environment through a project or a partnership. Advance understanding and learning of science in society, particularly in grades 1-12.

Targeted Area: Northeast, Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Southwest, and West.

Eligibility: The Dow Chemical Company Foundation considers requests from charitable and educational institutions.

Award Amount: Award amounts vary.

Application Process: Dow does not use a formal contributions request form. Preferential consideration is given to charitable contributions recommended by Dow employees.

Deadlines: Ongoing.
