Each week, Neighborhood Networks provides potential funding sources
to help centers develop and improve programs and services. Featured
this week is the Deluxe
Corporation Foundation.
Program
Areas: Since 1954, the Deluxe Corporation Foundation has awarded
more than $82 million to education, arts, and human services programs
and nonprofits. Through programs like Reading for Life, which focuses
on helping students who struggle with reading, the Deluxe Corporation
Foundation seeks to make communities in Arizona, California, Colorado,
Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New
Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin
better places to live and work.
Targeted
Area: Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest,
and West.
Eligibility:
The Deluxe Corporation Foundation considers applications from organizations
that:

Meet the Deluxe Corporation Foundation's grant
focus areas.
|
|
Have obtained tax-exempt status under sections
501(c)(3) or 509(a)(1), (2), or (3).
|
|
Have operated as a nonprofit for at least two
years. |
|
Secure support from other corporate funders. |
|
Serve
communities
with a Deluxe facility. |

Amount: Award amounts vary.
Application
Process: There are two separate processes to apply for a Deluxe
Corporation Foundation grant, depending on whether the nonprofit
organization is based in Minnesota or elsewhere in the United States.
Minnesota-Based
Nonprofit Organizations:
If a nonprofit organization has not received Deluxe Corporation
Foundation funding in the past, it must write a letter of inquiry
that describes:

Purpose of the organization.
|

Description of who the organization serves (e.g.,
geographic focus, age, etc.).
|
|
What type of funding is needed. |
If
a nonprofit organization has received funding from the Deluxe Corporation
Foundation in the past, the organization must submit a grant proposal
that includes the following supplemental materials:

Cover letter that summarizes the purpose of the
requested funds. |
|
Most recent 990 Form (must include statements
and attachments). |
|
Operating budget. |
|
Copy of organization's most recent audit. |
|
Project budget (if applicable). |
|
501(c)(3) certificate. |
|
List of board members. |
|
List of other corporate funders with dollar amounts
of most recent contributions. |

If a nonprofit organization is located in a Deluxe community outside
of Minnesota, it must submit a grant proposal that includes:

Deadlines:
The Deluxe Corporation Foundation accepts proposals from February
to November 1 each year for nonprofit organizations based in Minnesota
and February to October 1 for nonprofit organizations based outside
of Minnesota.
