Newberry Estates "Community Gives Back" Neighborhood Networks Event

Newberry Estates, a 200-unit non-insured Section 8 project located in Williamsport, PA, was recently in the media spotlight. Two local television stations covered the project's "Community Gives Back" event. WBRE, a local television (Channel 28) affiliate of NBC, and WNEP, a local television (Channel 16) affiliate of ABC provided reports on the festivities.

The community celebration offered the opportunity for numerous social service agencies to set up booths to introduce residents to the services that they offer. In addition, there were also many activities for the children including games, clowns, hot dogs, snacks, and drinks. The police department was present to help with the event and offered their services to the staff at Newberry Estates. Also, in the spirit of “giving to others,” a food drive was held to help feed the needy of central PA.

The event was an enormous success. As aptly stated by Mike Simmons, President of Community Realty Management, “this is a first-hand example, illustrating that there is so much more than just bricks and mortar to the real estate management profession.

HUD commends management’s commitment to resident services and efforts to elevate the project’s Neighborhood Networks Center to new heights.
