how to access health information on MedlinePlus.gov, a free
consumer health information Web site from the National Library
of Medicine (NLM), and other NLM resources. In addition, SE/A
staff provided information and training on how to locate available
funding resources and prepare a fundable proposal. |

Healthy and Secure Computing (HSC) Program hosted a 45-minute
Webinar that discussed disk protection, Internet content filtering
options, and how to implement a regular maintenance schedule.
Participants also learned how to obtain no- and low-cost software.

A Webinar is a conference call with a feature that allows
participants access to documents and features on the presenter's
computer. Often referred to as an "online meeting," a Webinar
does not enable participants to see the presenter; only hear
them via the conference call. Participants interact with the
presenter via the conference call. Shared documents may include
screen shots, information from the Internet, or other resources
the presenter would like to share. Participants may need to
download basic (free) software to participate in a Webinar.)

Clubhouse hosted a conference call that discussed the learning
approaches used in the Computer Clubhouse and provided ideas
about how to engage youth in a compelling way. The one-hour
call included an overview of the Computer Clubhouse's learning
principles and an opportunity for questions and discussion.
Participants were also given a link that allowed them to take
a virtual tour of a Computer Clubhouse. |

this Webinar that brought together the experience and expertise
of representatives from the Local
Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and Operation
HOPE. During the one-hour session, centers learned the best
ways to forge partnerships with local organizations and businesses.
Participants also discovered the “Top 10 Partners Hidden in
Your Communities” and heard about successful partnership development
strategies. In addition, participants learned what partners
look for when they are approached by local organizations. |

A
participant in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s
(NASA’s) Imagine
Mars Project, the Park Villas Family Learning Opportunity
Center hosted a one-hour, interactive Web cast. This event
showcased how NASA’s national arts, sciences, and technology
education initiative teams students with scientists, engineers,
artists, and civic leaders to design a futuristic Mars community.
During the Web cast, center participants shared their projects
and center staff discussed their participation in the Imagine
Mars Project. Participants submitted questions electronically
and a NASA or Park Villa representative answered them on the
air. NASA wrapped up the Web cast with details on an Imagine
Mars competition that is open to all Neighborhood Networks centers.
