Neighborhood Networks Week 2009 was a resounding success! Neighborhood
Networks centers in 41 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands hosted
or participated in a total of more than 500 events in observance
of Neighborhood Networks Week 2009 held August 3 - 8. Events ranged
from grand openings and open houses to job and health fairs to community
block parties. Centers across the country also participated in the
national, virtual events sponsored by the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development (HUD). Virtual events included a Webcast showcasing
and recognizing the achievements of the youth who participated in
the Internet Community Arts Media Partnerships (iCamp) at Neighborhood
Networks centers in Chicago; a Web cast showing a graduation ceremony
for residents who completed workforce development programs at a
Neighborhood Networks center in Maryland; a One-Stop-Shop Web Page
Webinar; and a Web cast that spotlighted the remarkable partnership
between a Neighborhood Networks center and the University of California,
San Diego (UCSD).
