Monthly Conference Call — Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at 3 p.m. (EDT) — Partnerships with Colleges and Universities: How to Get Them and How to Keep Them

- -
 Information by State
 Print version

Neighborhood Networks centers can obtain wonderful benefits through partnership with a local college or university. Whether residents gain access to students who can help them learn about technology and career development activities, or teach them how to respond in an ever-changing world of work and responsibility, colleges and universities can play a special role in the development of a successful Neighborhood Networks center.

During this call, Eddie Thomas, vice president for external affairs at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, will discuss the role that institutions of higher learning can play in their communities and illustrate the benefits of working with Neighborhood Networks centers. We will also hear from Engrid Gibbs, program director, Operation Peace Neighborhood Networks Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Gibbs has successfully worked with a local learning institution to develop a strong and meaningful partnership to support programs for residents.

By participating in this call, participants will learn:

 -   How the center benefits by connecting with a college or university.
 -   How the college or university benefits by connecting with a Neighborhood Networks center.
 -   How the center gains concrete resources by partnering with a college or university.
 -   How to initiate communication with a college or university.
 -   How to maintain a successful partnership with a college or university.
