Residents
of HUD housing who have special needs also benefit by having access
to Neighborhood Networks centers.
At Neighborhood Networks centers, residents with disabilities find
access to programs and services such as adult education classes,
resume writing, and general educational development (GED) certification that enable them to be healthy,
contributing members of their community.
At the Northland Village Apartments Computer Learning Center in Dayton, Ohio,
one disabled resident went on to become president of her Resident
Council and a full-time employee of a nationally known high-technology
company after coming to the center with no computer skills and low
self-esteem.
Many Neighborhood Networks centers incorporate assistive technologyequipment
and products that give the disabled and seniors better access to
computers.
