How to Keep Computers Running and Current with No Funds

- -
 Information by State
 Print version

Description:

This session is for participants whose center computers experience more crashes than a demolition derby, who users have time to build their own computer while waiting for an Internet page to load, and whose staff spend more time providing tech support than helping residents with their job searches. Learning how to fix, protect, and update hardware and software for little or no cost is the focus of this session.

Presenter:

Kami Griffiths
Senior Program Associate
TechSoup’s TechCommons Program
Phone: (415) 633-9392

Kami Griffiths brings a wealth of knowledge and ideas around the challenge of delivering technology. As a senior program associate for TechSoup’s TechCommons Program, Ms. Griffiths puts her experience to good use. Originally from Minnesota, Ms. Griffiths has worked in San Francisco, Boston, and New York City. Previously, Ms. Griffiths worked for the New York Department of Parks and Recreation in New York City where she managed 27 public access computing centers and taught beginner and intermediate computer classes for welfare-to-work participants. Also in this position, Ms. Griffiths started a program bringing volunteers into underserved communities to offer free computer classes. Ms. Griffiths also worked for Global Exchange in San Francisco as a graphic designer.
