All Together Now: Creating a Strong Partnership Between Property Owners, Managers, and Center Staff

- -
 Information by State
 Print version

Description:

Successful Neighborhood Networks centers often have one trait in common. Center staff and property owners and managers share a vision and work toward turning this vision into reality. In this session, Neighborhood Networks center staff and property owners and managers who have built a mutually beneficial relationship will share with participants the tactics they used to create a win-win balance between center staff and property management. Methods of effective communication and ways to address the concerns of both sides will also be discussed. The session will demonstrate to center staff and property owners and managers that their most valuable partners are each other.

As the client services manager for Grand Forks Housing Authority, Craig Knudsvig is responsible for the operation of four Neighborhood Networks centers; two of which are open to the greater community. One of the centers, the LaGrave Learning Center, opened in 1996 and was the first Neighborhood Networks center in HUD’S Denver region. With a team of resident service coordinators, Mr. Knudsvig oversees an afterschool program partnership with the Grand Forks School District and manages the Family Self Sufficiency Program, several homeownership programs, and the housing counseling services for the Grand Forks Housing Authority. Previously, Mr. Knudsvig spent 10 years with the North Dakota Job Service system managing Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) and other training programs. Mr. Knudsvig earned a marketing degree from the University of North Dakota.

In March, Caitlin Pincus joined Las Palmas as a full-time program coordinator. Ms. Pincus will have principal responsibility for implementing and overseeing supportive services, education, and recreational programs at our affordable housing communities. In addition, she will be assisting with the cultivation of our emerging social service agency, C.A.R.E. (Communities Advocating for Resident Empowerment). Ms. Pincus received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Her employment background includes events coordinator for the San Diego Bowl Game Association, Holiday Bowl and Poinsettia Bowl, as well as supervision of after-school programs for the City of Chatsworth.
