Description:

What does the future hold for the Neighborhood Networks centers' youth population? If they decide to enter the workforce immediately after graduating from high school, do they know what type of job they would like to obtain? Are they prepared to conduct a professional job search? This session is for participants interested in starting and managing a youth workforce development program. From identifying funding resources and partners to providing career counseling and job-readiness training, this session provides all the information and planning materials centers need to launch a youth workforce development program. Participants will also hear about Job Corps, a job training program federally funded by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) that assists young adults in obtaining their GED training, learning a trade or skill, and seeking employment opportunities. A Job Corps representative will share how Job Corps and Neighborhood Networks centers can work together to develop career paths for young adults.
