The partnership between NASA and Neighborhood Networks (NN) continues to soar. Students from the Northpointe Apartments NN Center in Long Beach, California, recently participated in Imagine Mars, a national art, science, and technology education initiative created by NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). The program incorporated community development principles by requiring the NN students (with the guidance of NASA/JPL engineers, scientists, and educators) to explore their own community and then decide which elements should be included to develop a brand new community on Mars.

Join the Web cast on Thursday, August 4, 2005, to learn more about this exciting project from NASA and the students themselves. Video clips of the Northpointe students working on their Imagine Mars project will be shown, and some of the students and a JPL engineer will participate in a live Web chat to discuss their experiences with the project. Hear students describe their efforts in their own words, and learn how the NASA program may be replicated in other NN centers. A question-and-answer period will follow the Web chat.

Visit the NASA site for more information on how to participate in this live Web cast.

You will need Real Player free software to participate.

Give yourself plenty of time to prepare. If you have any problems viewing the Web cast or have questions about downloading the software, call the toll-free Neighborhood Networks Information Center at (888) 312-2743 or (800) 483-2209 (TTY).
