Welcome to the HUD Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

When President Bush came into office, he recognized that the true strength of this country lies in the hearts and souls of its citizens, not in Washington. Under the President’s leadership, the federal government is partnering more closely than ever before with faith-based and community organizations that address critical human needs in their communities.

The President’s Faith-Based and Community Initiative encourages local grassroots organizations to apply for federal grants and become partners in federal programs. The Initiative originated from the simple idea that our best chance to overcome a community’s deepest problems is to tackle them from within, by welcoming those community partners who truly know how to change lives and entire communities.

HUD has been an active leader in the Administration’s Faith-Based and Community Initiative. We changed our rules to welcome organizations rooted in faith, and we are making a difference in communities across America. By leveling the playing field so that faith-based and community organizations can apply for funding through the same processes as other grant recipients, we are channeling America's compassion in new directions, and transforming the lives of society's most vulnerable.

This website serves as a valuable resource for social service providers interested in partnering with HUD, and I invite you to explore the many grant opportunities that we make available annually. President Bush and his entire Administration are committed to encouraging and expanding the partnerships that help to make possible the much needed work of America’s “armies of compassion” – and I invite you to join with us.
