The purpose of the IDIS Data Cleanup is to ensure the quality, completeness, and timeliness of grantee performance data.
In keeping with the mandate of the Government Performance and Results Act of 1993, the goal of the Department is to establish IDIS as a reliable database of community development activities, meeting both local management needs and the demand for federal accountability.
HUD requires reliable information for many purposes, including:
- Reporting to Congress
- Monitoring financial information and grantee performance
- Tracking program success
- Identifying grantee and program needs
To ensure complete and accurate data, HUD periodically reviews the data entered into IDIS by grantees. Each program office reviews the data for inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and omissions. HUD then places spreadsheets on the web for each grantee that indicates the fields in IDIS that need correction. HUD Headquarters notifies each Field Office and grantee when the information is accessible and gives each grantee a specific amount of time to make corrections.
