Ho-Chunk Nation in Black River Falls, WI will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Capacity Building grant in the amount of $126,626. The applicant proposes to use their Capacity Building award to develop and train tribal staff and officials in analysis, planning, and management of economic development within the targeted rural areas, with the hiring of a consultant to oversee their activities. This grant will assist them in achieving their goals of skill enhancement and increasing personnel. Proposed leveraging amounts to $115,856.

Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, in Keshena, WI will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Capacity Building grant in the amount of $150,000. The applicant proposes to use their Capacity Building award to employ qualified business development staff at their Menominee Business Center. This Center serves as a business incubator facility that provides assistance to new and expanding Menominee entrepreneurs in building their businesses. Supporters of this venture are Northwoods Niijii Enterprise Community, Inc. along with the Lac du Flambeau Chippewa and the Sokaogon Band of Mole Lake Chippewa. Proposed leveraging is $26,093.

Wisconsin Department of Commerce, in Madison, WI will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative grant in the amount of $400,000. The applicant proposes to use their Innovative award to enhance the sales and marketing capacity of small businesses in rural Wisconsin. Through use of computer technology this project will all small businesses to sell and market their projects regionally, nationally and internationally. A Revolving Loan Fund will be established to provide financing to businesses using the Wisconsin Common Marketplace. Supporters of this project are West Cap, Western Dairyland, CAP Services, and the Department of Commerce. Proposed leveraging is $200,000.
